Maya
Its ok to cry they said,
But I am unable to.
You, the fire of my life
Taught me chutzpah
And to find happiness in liberation.
You taught that even when you’re in pain
Don’t let things drive you insane.
Your carefree laughter
Your welcoming arms and smile
Make me wistful.

Maya, Maya…
Your name brings along a silence.
They envied your impudence
But you will remain in their thoughts
Even if only as a fleeting memory.
All you asked for was love,
Friendship, self-respect.
It seems like yesterday
We were playing hide and seek
Preferring to hide than be sought
Happy in our privacy
Enjoying our paysaa and idlis
Making garlands of mallige
over naughty giggles.

Oh Maya!
Who would have thought
Loneliness would consume you.
We were there for each other
You would call me and it made me feel special
I regret not reaching out to you often.
I shall always remember you
As a gorgeous girl
with a mix of brashness
And conformism
Who lived on her own terms
And brought happiness to others
Without expecting anything in return
Who loved only once
And lost it to one.
An ode to my childhood friend Maya. Maya lost her life to loneliness and the discriminating traditions and beliefs of a dogmatic society.

What a heart touching tribute to your childhood friend.
Going through it again and again, I am experiencing a blend of emotions. It brought a smile on my face and tears too remembering the good old childhood days when we spent our evenings amidst our friends.
The way you have brought life to Maya leaves me curious to know more about her and makes me feel the pain and grief you have gone through on the immense loss of this true bond.
Amazing piece of work

There are no words to express, just touching the heart .Only after leaving some good friends, we understand the value they have in our life? Friendship is such a relationship that it is very difficult to understand and convince someone. The friendship begins at the heart and ends at the heart. There is a maya… in everyone’s life.
I thank you very much, Madam, through your Poem, we can remember our friends again.🙏🙏

Loneliness is the most unpleasant thing that a person can ever experience . . . It is that absence of being able to envisage that you will ever be cheerful again. The absence of hope.
Each and every word expresses the pain you are going through while remembering your friend.
Awesome Musing ma’am as always ….👏🏻👏🏻

Yes true when you love some one deep very strange not to see person again. Initially your mind will not accept but losing some one is difficult to accept truth of life. It can be compensated by remembering through out. Meera

“It’s been a long day without you, my friend
And I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again
We’ve come a long way from where we began
Oh, I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again
When I see you again”
We wonder how and where our friends would be if time had not taken them from us.
Thank you fort his poem. It reminded me about my ‘Maya’ 🙂
